Increase in enquiries for Ploughcroft after night of gale force winds

A Brighouse roofing specilist is reporting a six-fold increase in enquiries after a night of gale force winds.

Following today’s further Met Office warning for gales throughout the Yorkshire region when inland gusts of 40 to 50mph are widely expected, Ploughcroft is calling for homeowners to regularly maintain their roofs.

Managing director Chris Hopkins, said: “Our phones have been ringing off the hook this morning following the high winds overnight. We are seeing high numbers of fascia boards and ridge tiles becoming loose. Unfortunately with winds over 28mhp it’s just not safe to go up on roofs but we’re hoping to make a start on repairs as soon as possible.

“If anything, this proves the importance of regular maintenance of roofs. It’s been a long hard winter and roofs have taken the brunt of the weather. Homeowners should get their roofs checked and repaired now – leaving it until this winter may mean jobs take longer and cost more money.”
