Independent bakery to trade from Waites' Hebden Bridge shop

An independent bakers and confectioners will remain at the heart of Hebden Bridge following the closure of Waites.

Bradford-based Marshall Bakers will trade from the much-loved Waites shop on Crown Street and it’s thought it will be open for business in the coming weeks.

A statement on Waites’ Facebook said: “They are a family run business like we were so I hope you can all support them like you’ve supported us over the years.”

Sadness greeted last week’s news that the Calder Valley bakery would not be re-opening

The company, whose bakery and shop was in Mytholmroyd, had announced that its Hebden Bridge shop would not be re-opening and later confirmed it would cease trading completely.

The bakery and both shops were badly hit by the devastating Boxing Day floods 2015, and the decision brings to an end a 60-year tradition.
