The hearing into the death of June Parkes, 68, of Copley, heard yesterday (Thursday) she was taken by ambulance to the hospital after collapsing and vomiting blood on December 15, 2014.

But after her condition worsened on December 17, a decision was made to transfer her to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, where she died less than half an hour after arriving.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died from a large gastric bleed from an ulcer.

The inquest at Bradford Coroners Court has been considering whether opportunities to prevent Mrs Parkes death were missed.

Mrs Parkes, a great-grandmother who suffered from type two diabetes and Alzheimer’s, was visited by a district nurse and an out-of-hours doctor on December 14 2014 before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The inquest continues next week.
