A new DJ school in Hebden Bridge is sending music lovers into a spin.

Run by Ric Morley, 32, the 16 Levels DJ School opened its doors three months ago at Windsor Works, Victoria Road.

Its aim is to encourage people to unleash their inner DJ, using a ‘hands-on’ approach.

The school accepts all levels, ages and styles through its bespoke learning programmes and gives students the skills to mix manually - with or without a laptop.

It covers equipment set up and explanation of current DJ technology, beats, bars and phrases, tempo and pitch, basic beat matching, track selection, advanced mixing, beat juggling and scratching.

Ric said: “I think it’s a really good thing for the town - it gives young people something to focus on.

“It’s great to see people get the passion for it.

“I love teaching and I love it when students work their way to playing something they are happy with.People don’t have to enrol on the full course, they can have just one lesson, with the first lesson being free.”

He added that people love their first lesson so much, they always come back for more.

Ric, who has been a DJ for 15 years, charges £25 per hour for lessons.
