Investigation underway after house blaze in Halifax

An investigation is underway today after a house fire in Pellon, Halifax.

Crews from Halifax, Illingworth and Elland were called to deal with the incident at Byron Street just off Battinson Road around 4.30am today (Wednesday).

The fire started in a first floor bedroom and the occupants - a family including several children - escaped unharmed.

A man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but did not require hospital treatment.

Fire crews used two hose reels and four breathing apparatus, which was located in a first floor bedroom.

Firefighters spent around three hours at the scene.

A spokesman for Halifax fire station said the cause of the fire was being looked in but was not thought to be suspicious.
