It’s a new chapter for library’s centenary

PREPARATIONS for Rastrick Library’s centenary celebration are starting to build momentum.

Members of the Rastrick Local History Group have been collecting material about the area to produce a book, to be published in November as part of the event.

Since November last year, displays have been shown in the library each month showing different aspects in the community over the years.

Alan Flux, chairman of the history group, said the group had been working hard bringing the information together.

“Work has been moving along nicely with the work and we are encouraging more people to get involved,” he said.

“Visitors who have come in and seen the displays have always said something about it and have their own memories.

“We are also involving all the schools in Rastrick and are displaying their work about the library over the coming months.”

The publication of the book is set to be part of a variety of events that are being planned for the library’s 100th birthday. Anyone wanting to get involved can contact Mr Flux on
