Punters will find out how they can buy shares in their local at a public meeting on Saturday (April 27).
The meeting, at the Fox and Goose in Hebden Bridge, is a key stage in the campaign to create West Yorkshire’s first co-operative pub.
Local people and real ale lovers got together as the Friends of the Fox and Goose, to save the well-loved traditional pub, when the landlady’s deteriorating health meant she would soon be unable to run it herself. A steering group set up to investigate how to save the pub concluded that a Co-operative would be viable and the community voted in favour of this option.
At this Saturday’s meeting, the Fox Friends steering group will present an updated business plan and introduce a draft prospectus for the share offer which is due to be launched shortly. The meeting will be held in the Fox and Goose, in Heptonstall Road. It starts at 1pm, but supporters are urged to arrive from around 12.30pm with refreshments being served before the formal business gets underway.
