A recruitment drive is being launched to find new members for a worldwide organisation.
Halifax Round Table, one of the oldest in the world, is looking for men aged between 18 and 45 to join the organisation, which has branches in more than 60 different countries.
The round table helps the local community by fundraising and members also take part in activities including canoeing, foot golf and bike rides. The group also enjoys annual international trips to visit other round tables including Finland and Estonia and inter-table competitions including cricket, sumo wrestling, tug of war and golf.
Robin Talbot, chairman, said: “We stand for fun, friendship and fundraising. Over the years Halifax Round Table has raised thousands of pounds for local charities, recently including Overgate Hospice, Ravenscliff School, and this year we are working with EMpowered People.
“We were also awarded the most social Round Table in Yorkshire 2014/2015 and plan to keep hold of the cup for a long time.
“We are currently looking forward to being part of Halifax Agricultural Show where everyone can put their football skills to the test and find out more about Round Table. We hope to see you there.”
The group has a business meeting on the first Thursday of every month in a local pub and on the third Thursday holds a social event.
