The annual K9 party in the park has been postponed over the health fears for the dogs.

The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield and District branch which organises the event has said they are postponing their annual K9 Party In The Park at Manor Heath Park, Halifax.

In a message they said: "It was felt that in the interests of animal welfare, due to the heatwave we're experiencing it would be better to postpone the event.

"A new date will be set for September and announced ASAP."

The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield and District Branch are a self-funding branch of the National RSPCA, responsible for raising money locally to support their animal welfare work.

Their main aim is to rehabilitate unwanted, abandoned and abused animals and find them loving, permanent homes.

The branch relies on public donations and the generosity of the local community to keep the doors of their animal centre open.
