Kids come out of their shells for big egg hunt

Organised by the parent and community group, which is aiming to repair the children’s play area, families gathered for its first fundraising event.

Jo Pearson, from the group, said: “The weather was good from the start of the day, giving us the initial hope that people may follow the sun to the park and they did come, almost before we were even set up and definitely before the official start time, but we didn’t mind at all.

“Children excitedly ran into the park with their quest forms, followed by parents who seemed happy to see them on a mission out in the fresh air.

“As more and more people filled the park, searching for stickers in plastic filled eggs and buying homemade buns and chocolates, a warm feeling of satisfaction came over us, knowing that everyone was having fun, as well as raising money for a great cause.”

Everyone on the day left with an egg donated by Londis as a thank you for taking part, but there was also a possibility of winning an Easter prize donated by Sainsbury’s.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to join in and also those who gave their time to help out,” said Jo. “We managed to raise £193.84 for the Woodhouse Play Area Regeneration Fund.”
