The romantic drama series will air on BBC1 on Sunday, December 28 at 6pm and the trailer is creating anticipation for fans of the popular show.

The show was created by Sally Wainwright and follows widowers Alan Buttershaw and Celia Dawson, who rediscover their feelings for one another when they are reunited on Facebook.

The six-part series will feature a gay marriage storyline between Caroline, played by Sarah Lancashire, and her partner Kate, played by Nina Sosanya.

Sally said: “Caroline’s story is very eventful this year.

“It’s an emotional rollercoaster.

“The series starts big for Caroline as she proposes to Kate in the first episode. The wedding comes later on.”

With Kate pregnant, Caroline comes to the realisation that Kate is the love of her life - something that Celia will struggle to understand.

Newlyweds from the second season, Alan, played by Derek Jacobi, and Celia, played by Anne Reid, return to the series to show their strong bond after their relationship was put to the test in series two, when Alan was recovering from a heart attack.

Sally added: “I’m thrilled that we’re going into a third series with really exciting new storylines that will move Celia and Alan’s relationship forward with hopefully the same mix of gusto, comedy and drama.”

The cast and crew have been spotted filming around Calderdale in the past few months.

Film sets appeared in Halifax town centre, Shibden Mill and Ripponden, and created excitement around the borough.
