A total of 70 firefighters from across West Yorkshire are tackling a factory blaze at a Brighouse industrial site.

Firefighters from across the brigade are tackling a building fire at Crompton Mouldings on Sherwood Road, Brighouse.

The alarm was raised at about 2.15pm and the 60m x 60m, single storey building is 100% involved and and ten large jets in use.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "If you are in the area or can see smoke, as a precaution, we would advise that you please keep your windows and doors closed."

St John's Primary Academy in Clifton (close to the fire) sent out a message on Twitter and said: "The school has all doors and windows shut, so we’re safe from the smoke! Drive carefully as traffic is affected..

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police has also said that: "Due to a series incident on Wakefield Road, Brighouse (junction 25 leading into the town centre), the road is closed in both direction. Please avoid the area if possible."

Highways England has confirmed that junction 25 of the M62 is CLOSED towards Brighouse. However It is possible to get to Huddesfield as normal.
