Law firm aims for music gong

Over the course of 2017 Shoosmiths advised on a number of large deals in the music industry, including the recording agreement for up-and-coming Halifax band The Orielles.

As such it has been nominated in the UK Law Firm of the year category.

Among the other deals it worked on included advising Allied London on the Low Four Recording Studios deal and advising Johnny Marr, The Vaccines, The Cribs and New Order producer

Jim Spencer, in respect of the agreement relating to The Charlatans album Different Days.

It also advised Joe Duddell, a classical composer renowned for his collaborations with well-known indie/electro/dance artists in respect of his commissioning agreements relating to his collaborations with with New Order and artist Liam Gillick for the Manchester International Festival 2017.

Shoosmiths is also specialist music law advisers to Leeds-based, NSM Music Ltd, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of digital audio and video jukeboxes.
