Le Tour: Video - publicity procession passes through Hebden Bridge

The famed publicity caravans have made their way through Calderdale, getting the crowds cheering.

Hundreds of people are creating a sea of yellow banners and jerseys as the processions of 180 floats make their way through Hebden Bridge before the peloton arrive.

Spectators were treated to teabags, sweets and even seeds for herbs as the likes of Fruit Shoot, Yorkshire Tea and Haribo drove by the elated crowds, basking in the sun.

The atmosphere in Ripponden was electric as hundereds of people lined the streets and to cheer the procession and soak up the atmosphere.

Romelia Carter, 61, said: “I’ve never seen Ripponden so busy.

“It looks so beautiful and it was a lovely feeling coming into the town.”

Sonia and Roy Stansfield had a prime view from their house in Old Bank.

Sonia, 65, said: “The atmosphere has been fantastic.

“There has been a massive build up and everyone has put so much effort in.”

Anticipation is growing among the crowds in Mytholmroyd.

Halifax father Gary Asquith has brought his son William, five, to watch the Tour de France Yorkshire, which Gary described as a “once in a lifetime event”.
