A Halifax company has proved to be a real cash cow after an unusual donation to Manorlands Hospice.

The Leo Group, based on Swalesmoor Road, donated cattle to the Sue Ryder Hospice, near Keighley, milking £2,000 for the charity when they came under the hammer at auction.

The donation will be used to extend the counselling and support programme offered at the hospice for children who have lost a loved one.

Leo Group managing director, Danny Sawrij, said: “We all know someone whose lives have been touched by the amazing work of the hospice. By donating the proceeds from the auction of our cattle, we hope it will add an extra dimension to its work.

Regional fundraiser for the hospice, Hayley Ibbotson, said: “We’d like to thank the Leo Group for this fantastic sum. The donation will be used locally at the hospice, helping to fund the children’s bereavement workshops.”
