The nominations are in for the final heat for the Halifax Courier Pub of the Year 2013.
There are 12 pubs from the HX6 postcode for you to choose from, listed below, with your favourite becoming the last pub to make it through to our Grand Final, where our overall winner will be crowned.
You can vote for your choice in using the voting form in Friday’s Courier.
The 12 pubs nominated in HX6 - The Booth Wood Inn, The Shepherd’s Rest, The New Hobbit, The Works, The Turnpike Inn, The Waiters Arms, The White Horse, The Five House, The Silk Mill, The Puzzle Hall Inn, The Fox and The Turks Head - include some strong candidates and competition for the last place in the Grand Final is sure to be fierce.
The winner from HX6 will be joined in the final by The Duke of York in Stainland, who have won the combined HX4 and 5 heat, HX1 winner the Railway Inn, HX2 winner the Winterburn and HX3 winner the Shibden Mill Inn.
James Simpson, who has run the pub for 10 years with his partner Maria Kendrick, said: “I’m ecstatic about getting through. “We were hoping to win the heat because we’re a local, neighbourhood pub with a good mix of clientèle.
“We know and they know we’ve got a good pub but if we won it would be a good boost business-wise and hopefully mean more people would pay us a visit.
“It would also be a real pat on the back for our customers too.” You can post your votes to Love Your Local Nominations, Halifax Courier, Promotions Department, King Cross Street, Halifax, HX1 2SF no later than Wednesday, July 17.
