The winners of the contest organised by Harrogate Lions secretary Eve Nelson and Harrogate Library’s Sue Proctor, are - Alex Oxley of St Aiden’s, Madelaine Smith of Rossett School and Ella Morrison of St John Fisher.

A Lions spokesman said: “The Lions International Peace Poster competition is an annual event aimed at young people all over the world to encourage them to express their visions of peace through art, and is proudly sponsored by Lions Clubs around the world in their local schools and youth groups.

“Participants use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint – but not collage or photography – to express a different theme about peace each year. Inevitably the works vary greatly and reflect the young artist’s life experiences and local culture.

“Posters are shared globally via the Internet, social media, news outlets and travelling exhibits.”

The international winner will win an escorted visit to the UN Headquarters in New York.
