Halifax singer Lizzie Jones has taken to social media to express her delight after singing the national anthem with 35,000 England football supporters last night.
The talented soprano earned a standing ovation from the sell-out crowd, who had gathered at Leeds United's Elland Road ground to watch England's final warm-up fixture before they head off to Russia for the World Cup.
In an Instagram post she said: "Well that was something else - so honored and soooo proud to sing for my country @england @itv Thank you for always looking after me you’re amazing."
Lizzie was tragically thrust into the nation's consciousness when her husband, former Halifax rugby league player Danny, died from cardiac arrest in 2015.
She has sung at a number of rugby league events, including a stunning performance just months after Danny's death at the 2015 Challenge Cup final.
