Rastrick business owner Lynni Newsome is gearing up to cycle 72 miles for charity.

Lynni who owns Top2Toe in New Hey Road is cycling from Wetherby to Filey as part of the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride.

The ride supports a varied group of charities every year and Lynni is hoping to raise funds for eight different charities, Heart Research UK, Ryedale and district Mencap, Wetherby Lions, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Epilepsy Research UK, Candlelighters Trust, Martin House Children’s Hospice and Hollybank Trust.

The cycle will take place on Saturday, June 15, and Lynni has been increasing her training for the event over the last few weeks.

She said: “Due to a running injury from the New York marathon and being told not to run I decided to concentrate on biking instead and help these eight different charities at the same time.”

Lynni has raised more than £150 for the charities so far, which are chosen by the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride organisers.

Last year around 1,564 riders took part in the challenge and raised £140,861 for the group of charities.

It is one of the biggest cycling events and is one of very few one-way events rather than the normal circular route.
