Man attacked in Halifax town centre this morning

A MAN was viciously attacked as he walked to work in Halifax this morning.

The victim, a 59-year-old man, was walking along Pellon Lane towards Halifax town centre shortly after 5am when he was assaulted.

He was approached from behind and, as he turned round, was punched in the face.

He fell to the floor and then was kicked by two men.

The victim suffered face injuries and was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital for treatment. He was later discharged.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the attack or has information that might help with their investigation.

They are particularly keen to speak to a taxi driver and his passenger who were in the area at the time of the assault and stopped to help.

Meanwhile, police are still investigating two gang attacks in Halifax on Thursday night. A 30-year-old man was assaulted in Horton Street at 10.15pm after he refused to hand over his mobile. At 10.20pm the same night, a 43-year-old man was attacked on Savile Park Road.
