Man dies following Leeds crash

A man - travelling in a car that was on the run from police - has died following a fatal road accident.

Enquiries are ongoing this morning following following the accident - which occurred at around 12.40am today. (Sunday)

A Vauxhall Astra containing four men was in collision with a Skoda Superb taxi at the junction of Burley Street and Burley Road in Leeds.

Two men in their 20’s in the Astra were seriously injured as a result of the collision with one, later dying in hospital. The other remains in a critical condition.

A third man in the Astra suffered non life threatening injuries while the fourth injured male was arrested at the scene on warrant for unconnected matters. Both males were also aged in their 20’s.

The male driver of the taxi suffered life threatening injuries and is in a serious condition at Leeds General Infirmary.

The collision occurred shortly after the Astra had made off from Police officers after being ordered to stop.

The matter has been referred to the IPCC who have attended the scene.
