Man falls to his death at Calderdale Royal Hospital

A man has died after falling from Calderdale Royal Hospital this morning (Monday).

The incident happened at around 9am - the man is believed to have fallen from height whilst working on-site at the hospital, at Salterhebble.

He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detective Inspector David Shaw, of Calderdale District CID, said: “Officers are making enquiries in to the circumstances surrounding the man’s death alongside the Health and Safety Executive.”

Lesley Hill, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust’s director of estates, said: “The police and Health and Safety Executive are investigating after a contractor fell from height early today at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

“Despite efforts by our colleagues we were sadly unable to save his life.

“Our thoughts are with the family at this time and we send our sincere condolences.”
