A man who admitted slashing two friends when they sympathised with the murdered soldier Lee Rigby will be sentenced today.

Ziko Sulliman, 27, grabbed a knife and went on the attack in a house in Middlesbrough in May as the group discussed what had happened in Woolwich only days before.

He admitted wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, wounding and having a blade, at a previous hearing at Teesside Crown Court.

Sulliman, a Sudanese man of Aire Street, Middlesbrough, faced a lengthy sentence after inflicting a three-inch wound to Zakaria Hamed’s cheek. He was also stabbed in the leg.

His other victim Khalid Osman was slashed across the hand.

Both men required hospital treatment.
