Masked gang burst in and threaten staff

POLICE are hunting three masked men who burst into a shop and threatened staff with a hammer and a crowbar.

Detectives are appealing for help finding the gang who attacked the Co-op store in Burnley Road in Mytholmroyd at 8.57pm on Sunday.

Dave Buddis, duty manager at the shop, said one of the three managed to get behind the kiosk while the other two marched staff to the office at the back of the shop and raided the safe.

He said they were threatening the staff with the hammer and crowbar.

They escaped with cash and cigarettes.

"They were only in the shop for 90 seconds," said Mr Buddis.

"The staff were not hurt but they are traumatised."

He said there were no customers in the shop when the robbery happened.

One of the men was described as stocky, wearing sandy trousers and a black jacket with a hood.

Another was described as tall, wearing smart clothing and black gloves.

The third suspect was wearing dark clothing and is believed to be left-handed.

Detectives are asking if anyone saw people acting suspiciously in the area or has information about the raid to get in touch.

Anyone who can help is being asked to contact Calderdale CID on 0845 6060606 or CrimeStoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
