Last Saturday saw Halifax Minster turn red, white and blue as the Halifax Royal Air Forces Association celebrated the centenary of the Royal Air Force.
David Wilkinson, chairman of the Halifax Branch, welcomed various dignitaries and distinguished guests to celebrate, remember and honour the past, present and future serving members of the RAF. The colours of Halifax RAFA and Halifax 250 Air Cadets were presented to Rev Canon Hilary Barber who said grace.
The standard bearers were Air Cadets Corporal Marcus Trevor and Corporal Luke Mills.
The dinner was attended by many generations of the Royal Air Force, along with the Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Ferman Ali and his wife Sheheen.
A spokesman said: “The main speaker for the evening was Mrs Amy Robinson, Northern Director of RAFA, who spoke about the work that the RAFA does to support serving and past members of the RAF and their families.
“Throughout the meal, entertainment was provided by a section of the Elland Silver Band who played a selection of music.”
