Halifax Minster will host its Christmas Carol service on December 4.

Carols sung in Halifax Minster will shared by the whole of West Yorkshire thanks to a special radio broadcast by BBC Radio Leeds.

The service will be jointly introduced by the Vicar of Halifax, the Rev Canon Hilary Barber and BBC Radio Leeds presenter, Andrew Edwards with an address by the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Rev Nick Baines.

The Minster Choir will perform and there will also be music from the Hebden Bridge Band and folk singers Pete Coe of Ripponden and Alice Jones of Halifax.

The service starts at 7pm prompt and everyone is welcome.

Rev Canon Barber said: “We are really pleased that our Christmas carol service is being broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds. It means it can be enjoyed by people all over Halifax and West Yorkshire. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in because it would be lovely to have the Minster full of singing voices.

“For anyone who has often wished they could sing on the radio, well this is their chance!”
