Moore and Morris set for Fax debuts at Widnes

Halifax coach Richard Marshall will give debuts to young talents Elliott Morris and Brandon Moore in Sunday's pre-season fixture at Widnes (3.0).

Morris, a former Huddersfield under 19s prop, and hooker Moore, last season’s Castleford under 19s Player of the Year, have both been added to the 19-man selection that was due to face Huddersfield last weekend.

“We’ve added those two to the squad and they’ll both play,” said Marshall, who said he expects the Vikings to start the game with something approaching a full strength line up.

“Elliott is a strong front rower who impressed us when we saw him playing for Huddersfield’s 19s last year.

“He carries the ball well and he’s got a bit of pace about him too.

“Brandon’s looked very good in training; I’m pleased we’ve managed to pick him up based on what we’ve seen so far.

“You can tell he’s been full time at the top level for a year and I think he could be a good player for us.”

Widnes’s artificial playing surface means the fixture should be immune to the freezing weather.
