A MURDER mystery night could go some way towards solving a problem for a group of Halifax actors.

They are taking a new play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August and need to raise cash for their travel, food and accommodation.

So a range of events are being organised in the meantime, including a murder mystery night and five-course meal on Friday, July 15, at Le Metro, Rawson Street, Halifax.

Lee D Barnes, creative director of Halifax-based In House Writer theatre company, has organised the event and will play the best man in the murder mystery evening, called Til Death Us Do Part. Tickets are £40 and participants are invited to turn up dressed as wedding guests, while the actors, including bride Nancy Monahan and bridegroom Rick Lucas, provide clues during the evening. For more details and to book call Le Metro: 01422 300175.

Lee, whose play for Edinburgh audiences is a psychological drama called InBetween, has also organised an event at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, on Wednesday, July 6 (7pm). Actors will have 24 hours to write, stage and perform a play from scratch. For tickets call the box office: 01422 351158.

Another fund-raiser will be on Friday, August 5, at the Ukrainian Club, Queen’s Road, Halifax, with bands and Ukrainian food (£8).
