Musical pupils in tune for summer show

Musical students at Brighouse High School are tuning up for their annual Midsummer Soiree.

The concert at Brighouse Parish Church on Friday, July 12 will include performances from the school’s big band, swing band, combined choirs, guitar ensemble, wind band, funk band and other musical groups.

There will also be contributions from a variety of instrumental and vocal solos, duets and trios from students and staff.

Around 100 students will take part under the direction of head of music Rebecca Venus.

It will be the eighth year that the Midsummer Soiree has been held, the result of fruitful musical partnership between the school and church.

The guests will include the Mayor of Calderdale, Coun Ann Martin.

The concert starts at 7pm and tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for students, available from 07860 868714.
