New defibrillator at St Columba's Church in Pellon

A new defibrillator has been installed at St Columba's Church and Community Hall in Pellon.

The equipment was installed at the same time as a visit from Neil Marsay from the Ambulance Service. Neil held a Defibrillator Awareness Session for the opening which was attended by 45 people from the surrounding area plus five children. Neil said this is to be part of the school curriculum.

Trish Coyle, Chairman of the Community Hall Group, started the fundraising to purchase the defibrillator by doing a sponsored slim. Warley Trust and The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund both contributed a grant and Clifby Works kindly gave a donation.

James Haley, of A and H Electrical, did the electrical work at a reduced price. James played rugby with the late Danny Jones, the husband of Lizzie Jones, who is a campaiagner for more defibrillators and whose family attend St Columba’s Church.

The defibrillator has been positioned outside St Columba’s Church and is registered with the Ambulance Service and available for use for anyone in the area.

Roy Stout has been appointed the Guardian of the Defibrillator and is the contact for the Ambulance Service.
