New lease of life for Causey Hall

The aim of the Creative Learning Guild is to champion innovative and inspiring approaches to learning inside and outside of formal education.

Causey Hall owner and developers, Bamford Developments Limited, have now started work on the upper level of Causey Hall. It is hoped that the space, which will be called ‘The Guild at Causey Hall’ will be open in September/October 2018.

Local architects, Gargarin, have designed a fully accessible main hall, meeting room and offices and the team at the Guild are working closely with Calderdale Council’s Disabled Children’s team - via the Short Breaks scheme - to undertake a feasibility study on accessibility as part of this.

In addition to the hall and meeting room being made available for undertaking creative learning they will also be available to hire for community groups, organisations and individuals for regular or one off meetings, events, workshops and conferences.

Managing Director of the Creative Learning Guild, Gilly Bryerley, said: “We are really excited to be developing a creative learning space in the centre of Halifax at a time when across the town there is a real buzz about culture and creativity.

“We want The Guild at Causey Hall to be a flagship centre where every part of the building inspires creativity in children and adults’ lives”.

In a statement, Bamford Developments added: “The building was originally a parish school from when it was built in 1857 up until the sixties, so it seems fitting that it will be a place of learning again.”
