New police figures reveal West Yorkshire in top 5 areas for homicide in England & Wales

New figures have been released today which show that West Yorkshire is in the top 5 areas in England and Wales for rates of murder, manslaughter and unlawful killing.

The data, released by police forces across the country, show there have been 28 incidences of homicide in the 12 months leading to March 2018 in West Yorkshire.

The West Yorkshire Police force covers areas including Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford and Halifax.

In North Yorkshire there were six, while 10 homicides were recorded in South Yorkshire and 16 in Humberside.

1. Metropolitan Police (London): 157

2. Greater Manchester: 88

3. West Midlands: 41

4. Sussex: 30
