A new food and drink outlet based at Halifax Rail Station opens today, creating six new jobs.
The Cafe Express Shop is situated next to the booking office and offers hot and cold drinks, snacks, books, papers and magazines to commuters.
Stuart Peacock, CaterLeisure’s chairman, and director of FC Halifax Town, said: “Six jobs, two full time and four part time, have been created and filled at the site and intended opening hours to start will be 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday; and 9am to 6pm on Sundays, although these may be extended as trading experience is gained.
“CaterLeisure have put in an investment of £140,000 to complete the works to a hi-spec finish to include the very latest fixtures, fittings, technology and equipment.
“This is the group’s 46th outlet and our 21st railway station contract.
“Negotiations with Northern Rail have taken some time due to the difficulties in fitting the service and its associated storage requirements into a station with very limited availability of space, and because the planning process with works associated with a listed building have taken some time to be finalised.”
