It’s ‘no likey, no lighty’ for a young woman from Mytholmroyd who has been picked as lone of the latest stars of hit television show Take Me Out.
Olivia Brown, 18, is being watched by thousands every Saturday night after being chosen to be one of Paddy McGuinness’s ‘flirty 30’ in the popular ITV1 dating show.
“My friend dared me to apply online and I was single and thought I might as well,” she said. “I didn’t think anything would come of it.”
Olivia, who is studying for a health and social diploma at Calderdale College as well as working as a receptionist at Murts Motor Centre in Hebden Bridge, was invited to an audition in Leeds where she took part in a mock-up of the game and later received the call to say the show’s producers wanted her in the first set of contestants.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I was so excited.”
“When I was younger I had really low confience and would never have had the confidence to do something like this.”
One of the highlights of the show has been meeting Paddy McGuinness and the rest of the female contestants.
“I get on really well with the rest of the girls. They’re the most lovely group of people,” she said.
“Paddy is really nice and puts everyone at ease.
“When it’s been down to the last two girls, he’ll always go over to the girl who hasn’t got a date and check she’s ok.”
Olivia says she has been getting recognised in the street more and more as the series progresses.
When she was outin Halifax one night, people were asking to have their photo taken wit hher.
“All my friends and family have been really supportive she added.”
But she is not letting on whether she has won a date through the show to the infamous Isle of Fernandos. “People will have to keep watching to see,” she said.
