HAVE you a good neighbour who deserves some recognition?
As well as all the usual fun of the fair at Calderdale Neighbours’ Day this year organisers are launching their Good Neighours’ awards.
If you have a good neighbour you want to nominate, you can visit the newly-launched website or pick up a form at this year’s event.
An award will be handed out for each region from Calderdale.
The awards are open to people from across the community.
People from across Calderdale are invited to the Piece Hall on May 21 from 11am to 4pm to join in the fun.
Steve Blackman from Voluntary Action Calderdale encouraged people to enter.
“If you know someone – an individual, family or group of friends – who deserves to be recognised, this is your chance to say thank you.
“The first awards will be announced at Neighbours’ Day 2012, so you can continue to make nominations throughout the year,” he said.
Other attractions on the day include circus skills, live music, dance and sports activities.
There will also be dance and music workshops, face painting, arts and crafts and a caving unit.
A community marketplace is being opened and prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Stall, Best Activity and the Friendliest Stall.
The event, now in its sixth year, is co-ordinated by Voluntary Action Calderdale and other local organisations.
The event is a celebration of all the people who make Calderdale great.
It hopes to bring together Calderdale’s diverse communities, and showcasing local talent.
