Now you can walk or run the Tod boundary!

It is one of the big events in the town’s calendar and never more so than this year when it is hoped events will pull in visitors to the Calder Valley as well as local people to show the area is very much open for business following the Boxing Day flooding.

As usual the walks take place on the Sunday of the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, this year being Sunday, May 1.

In addition to the two walks, this year a new Boundary Run is being introduced.

This event will cater for the growing number of runners interested in taking on the challenge of the 22-mile Boundary Walk route.

All three events will register and start from the Bellholme Sports Centre, Rochdale Road, Walsden (almost at the border with Littleborough) with staggered starts to ensure a smooth get away for everyone.

Entry forms are now available and can be downloaded from the Rotary Club website - www.todrotary.org - and the entry fee remains the same as last year at £10 per person for the Boundary Walk and £8 per person for the Pike Hike.

The entry fee for the Boundary Run is also £10 per person and all three events have reduced entry fees for those under 16 years of age.

Each year the walk raises thousands of pounds for charities and other good causes, with usually a different one being selected each year.

This year the main beneficiary will be one close to home - Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team. The Mytholmroyd based team has members throughout the Calder Valley and celebrates its golden jubilee this year.
