Halifax born and bred businessman Angus Wood couldn’t resist snapping up this unique number plate.
He splits his time between Stod Fold Brewery, at Ogden, and his finance business in London, and is very proud of his roots.
So, when a friend emailed him a link to a Courier story about the number plate HAL11FAX being among several going under the hammer at auction he was quick of the mark.
“It was at the 11th hour and the only option available to me was to get in my head what is the maximum I was prepared to pay and give it to the auctioneer,” said Mr Wood, who was brought up at Ogden.
When bidding got underway it got to within £200 of his maximum so the plate was his and with costs took his outlay to around £5,000.
“I think it’s worth more than I paid for it so I am happy with it,” said Mr Wood.
“And although it’s not been on long it has been well received.”.
He put the plate on the brewery van and said it added to the company brand.
“It’s suits a local brand much better than a car,” said Mr Wood.
