Old and new pack the timetable at gala

The procession will be kicking off the event, an hour earlier than in previous years. It will set off from Garden Road at noon and will include various floats, bands and walking groups.

It will travel along Garden Road, down Lightcliffe Road to Waterloo Road and on to Halifax Road. From there it will go through the town centre and on to Bradford Road before arriving at Wellholme Park just after 12.30pm.

Tickets will be accepted in the park from noon, and can be bought at the gate for £2. There will be a variety of stalls and games as well as fairground and donkey rides and much more.

The opening ceremony will be conducted at 1.30pm when the new Gala Queen, Georgina Thornton will be crowned.

The arena will kick off at 12.45pm as well as the stage. New to the arena this year is the falconry show.

The dog show will start at 1pm and the duck race will be at 5pm.
