Olympic route through Calderdale announced

DETAILS of the Olympic Flame’s passage through Calderdale have been announced.

Crowds will be lining the streets on Sunday, June 24, as the flame is carried through Brighouse and Halifax.

Seven torchbearers will carry the flame through Brighouse including two from Calderdale.

They are Hannah Cockroft, 19, and Rebecca Bell, 22, of Halifax.

The others are Joanne Kempley, 22, of Huddersfield, Bambang Pamungkas, 31, of Jakarta, Dixie Dixon, 32, of South Yorkshire, James Nichols, 31, of Manchester and Saira Tabasum, 21, of Bradford.

Six torchbearers are involved in Halifax including Christopher Green, 57, of Hebden Bridge, Frank Chislett, 62, of Halifax, Frank Rothwell, 75, of Hebden Bridge.

The others are Gerry Beamond, 60, of Huddersfield, Ika Trifisusanti, 20, of Surabaya, Matthew Norton, 32, of Holmfirth.

The Calderdale route from Brighouse is: Bradford Road (A641) from 30mph sign, Bradford Road, Huddersfield Road, Huddersfield Road (A641), Bethel Street, Briggate, Commercial Street, Gooder Street, Halifax Road (A644) to Half House Lane.
