Letter: Another year of disruption

It has been a tough year for Mytholmroyd residents with disruption due to major works in the village.

During 2018 we face continuing upheaval as these works progress and in the next few weeks will have scaffolding put up around the derelict station building as Network Rail starts a £1million restoration of the outside of the building. Calderdale Council might be joining in with roadworks when they repair/improve the grids as park of £1 million improvement to the road drains to prevent surface water flooding.

We also face traffic chaos when the Environment Agency puts up the new bridge at Caldene Avenue.

Even the Canal and River Trust is joining in having already spent £1 mllion on repairing walls and locks which is to be followed this year by footpath closures as they resurface the towpath between Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge.

I guess in 2018 we will just have to get used to disruption as all this £40 million-plus investment progresses.
