Letter: Born 230 miles away from home

While visiting the area from London for a wedding last weekend, my wife found herself going into labour unexpectedly early '“ some 230 miles away from our planned birth hospital.

After a somewhat anxious 4am trip to Calderdale Royal, and a relatively speedy delivery, I’m delighted to announce the arrival of our beautiful baby daughter Edie. The birth was a trouble-free and joyous one, despite being so far from home. I’d now like to take the opportunity to thank the absolutely wonderful midwives and staff at Calderdale Royal for their exceptional care and attention during our short stay in Halifax.

They’re a true asset to your town, and among the warmest and friendliest people you could ever wish to meet.

Halifax will now forever have a special place in our hearts, so thank you once again on behalf of a proud mum and dad and their beautiful Yorkshire lass!
