Letter: Council needs to get grip of road safety issues

I refer to the multi million pound scheme in the Salterhebble Hill area and around Calderdale Royal Hospital, which is supposed to improve traffic flows.

Sadly the council and highways department in their wisdom are installing a completely unsatisfactory bus stop facility inbound to Halifax at the well used vital bus stop directly outside Calderdale Royal Hospital.

The stop and layby facilities are so badly designed that they will not be able to cope with the volume of buses using this facility and due to inadequate docking facilities the buses will create serious traffic flow problems.

I sent an email to certain councillors prior to final construction of the bus stop facility mentioning this and explaining the problems they would have without amendments and like so many other issues they failed to react.

The council really needs to get a grip of road safety issues throughout the Calderdale area to improve road safety and stop wasting unnecessary money.
