Letter: Staff are a credit to NHS
After advice from the 111 helpline, I spent part of Sunday night at A&E. I was looked after with compassion and expertise by all the staff I came into contact with.
While I was there, I witnessed one young doctor being especially kind with a mother and her young child, ensuring they were not disturbed by a drunk patient (who was also treated respectfully) who had refused to leave after he was discharged.

While he was having glass removed from his hand, and throughout an x-ray and stitches, our son was having fun playing with one of the nurses.
It was really moving that on both our visits in very different circumstances, we were treated so swiftly, thoroughly and with so many smiles.
All the staff we dealt with are a credit to the NHS, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
