Ogden Water Nature Reserve to remain closed when new lockdown rules come into force

The announcement comes on the back of new guidelines announced by the Government on people being able to exercise more and travel to different areas by car.

A spokesperson for the nature reserve said: "We have been getting quite a few enquiries about whether Ogden Water will be opening up on Wednesday 13th May. After speaking to the landowner, Yorkshire Water, they have asked to keep the site closed down.

"For this reason Ogden Water remains closed The car parks will remain locked and the paths around the estate fenced off. No access to site is allowed.

"The Council Community Safety Wardens, Parking Enforcement and Police will be patrolling the area and can issue fixed penalty notices to those ignoring the rules

"Yorkshire Water are working with partner agencies to create a plan to adapt to changes in the government guidelines.

"Once this has been reviewed we’ll let everyone know what’s happening, however this could take a number of weeks and we have to be clear that the it is safe to open the estate. .

"Please don’t drive to Ogden Water as it is closed and inappropriate parking impacts our ability to access the reservoir safely as well as disrupting local residents."
