Resident calls to stop the blame game and make our towns thrive

Another great week for Calderdale. The council cabinet approves further increases in parking charges even though our town centres are slowly dying due to declining footfall.

The Piece Hall effect within Halifax town centre has greatly reduced with many businesses reporting figures down on last year.

There will come a point in the not too distant future, when the parking charges will turn once busy market towns along the Calder Valley into ghost towns. People will simply vote with their feet.

Retailers are reviewing the situation, seeing what the Christmas season brings.

A number of long established and some newer businesses will disappear over the next months, even the Piece Hall is not immune to this.

The councillors seem quite at ease with the fact that they are killing off many small businesses and making some larger businesses seriously consider their position within Calderdale.
