Talking Politics: Are our MPs value for money?

Oh happy days are here again especially if you are an MP in this parliamentary year.

The commons has only sat for 156 days out of 365. That works out at 5.2 months this year.

The government say this is because of the lack of legislation. We are in a double dip recession and only a whisker away from a triple dip recession. We as councils are being forced by the government to make huge cuts and make people redundant.

Perhaps we need to look at what it costs us to have 650 MPs in parliament all with housing allowances and staff, travel perks and many other perks.

Are we really getting value for money from our MP’s?
