Outstanding turnaround for school
Luddenden Foot Academy, at Burnley Road, Luddenden Foot, received the top rating following an inspection in December.
It marks a huge turnaround for the school, which was told it needed to improve in a number of areas in it’s last inspection in 2013.

Hide AdLead inspector, Fiona McNally, highlighted excellent teaching, strong leadership and pupils’ outstanding progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
She said: “By the time pupils leave school at the end of Year 6, their attainment is higher and often much higher than that of pupils of their age nationally.
“Disadvantaged students make outstanding progress. Disabled pupils and those with special educational needs also achieve very well.
“Pupils’ behaviour is excellent and pupils of different ages and from different backgrounds get on very well.

Hide Ad“Their attendance is excellent, reflecting their love of being at school.
“Early years provision is outstanding - children develop very well in all aspects of the curriculum in a stimulating and nurturing environment.”
Head of school, Rebecca Denham, said: “We are incredibly proud of all the children at Luddenden Foot Academy.
“The Ofsted results reflects all the hard work from children, parents and all staff.

Hide Ad“Since the last Ofsted inspection in 2013, the school has seen significant changes.
“We became a Converter Academy in December 2011 and we are now part of Brighter Futures Academy Trust.
“We are now the third member of the trust to become outstanding.
