Paraglider who died in accident near Scammonden is named

A paraglider who died after crash landing at a beauty spot near Scammonden has been named.

Kenny Ebbrell, 54 and from Bury, died in the accident at around 2pm on Saturday at Buckstones Edge above Marsden.

Firefighters from Brighouse, police, paramdedics and Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team were called out to try to help the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The spot, also known as Nont Sarah’s, is popular with paragliders and hanggliders who launch off the crags next to the main car-park to fly over March Haigh Valley.

Police say the victim was a 52-year-old man from Bury.

As spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “His family have been notified and the coroner made aware.

“Officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.”
