5. Birthplace of Embrace
Rock band Embrace began in a small outbuilding at the bottom of a garden in nearby Bailiff Bridge in 1990 by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara. The group has seven studio albums and performed at the Piece Hall last year.
6. Robin Hood's place of rest
Legend has it that English legend Robin Hood is said to have died at Kirklees Priory, three miles away from Brighouse town centre. It is said that he fired arrows and asked to be buried where they fell.
7. Head for heights
Brighouse is home to the UK's tallest outside climbing wall, ROKTFACE. The wall at the ROKT centre is 36m tall - or 118ft and is located on the former Sugdens Flour Silo.
8. Interesting history
The Old Ship Inn on Bethel Street in Brighouse town centre has an unusual history behind its frontage. It's said that the front of the pub (formally The Prince of Wales) made of timbers that were salvaged from HMS Donegal in 1926.
