Wheatley Court in Mixenden was originally purchased in May 2019 from Together Housing by urban developer, ALB North – and after 15 months of refurbishment work, the one and two-bedroom apartments are now available both to buy and to rent through a variety of local and national agents.

ALB managing director, Arran Bailey, said: “It’s been a major operation, keeping everything on schedule throughout the well documented disruptions of 2020. But this is now a safe, bright and modern tower block, full of beautiful one and two-bedroom apartments with high-end fit-outs and spectacular views. Whether for sale or for rent, these are places that people will be very proud to call home.”

Together Housing, one of the largest social landlords in the North of England, confirmed that the original deal with ALB North formed part of the £75million Calderdale Investment Partnership, which diverts all funds directly back into local developments - and George Paterson, director for property services at Together Housing, is in no doubt that ALB’s involvement has been good for the area.

He said: “By selling off properties we can invest that money into new and better homes that suit every budget. The sale of these properties is being fed into the wider investment partnership we have with Calderdale Council, which will see 500 homes built across Calderdale over the next few years.”

Arran is equally hopeful that the new apartments can play a useful part in the area’s continued regeneration.

He added: “While the Covid pandemic means we can’t hold a public event to recognise and celebrate the opening of the new block, we hope that our work in making these apartments safe, modern and aspirational will help attract further positivity and investment to the communities in and around Mixenden.”
